Apple requires an app-specific password for calendar access. Generate one on your Apple account, then paste it into Roll Call. You only do this once.
Before you start
Two-factor authentication must be on for your Apple Account. Apple does not offer app-specific passwords without it.
Generate the password
- Sign in at appleid.apple.com.
- Go to Sign-In and Security.
- Under Account Security, confirm two-factor authentication is on.
- Open App-Specific Passwords and choose Generate app-specific password.
- Enter a label such as "Roll Call" and click Create.
- Copy the password. It looks like
xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx.
Apple shows this password once. If you navigate away before copying it, generate a new one.
Connect in Roll Call
- Go to your profile.
- Under Calendar Sync, click Connect Apple Calendar.
- Enter your Apple ID email address and paste the app-specific password.
- Click Connect.
About the password
An app-specific password grants access to one service. It cannot be used to sign in to your Apple account, and you can revoke it from the same Apple settings page without changing your real password.
Common problems
- Credentials rejected. Use your full Apple ID email address, and paste the app-specific password rather than your Apple password. The dashes are part of it.
- No App-Specific Passwords section. Two-factor authentication is not enabled yet.
- It worked and then stopped. The password was revoked. Generate a new one and reconnect.
